PRIVACY POLICY

Effective May, 2016

Users of this website must agree to be bound by the terms and conditions set forth in this Privacy Policy, as they may be modified from time to time. Your access and use of this website constitutes your acknowledgment and acceptance of all of the following terms and conditions of this Privacy Policy.

Partners in Parkinson’s (“PIP”) is committed to safeguarding your privacy. This policy explains our online information practices and the choices you can make about the way the information you provide us is collected and used. For easy and direct access, we provide a link to this statement from our home page and all other pages of the site.

PIP is a collaboration between The Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson’s Research (“MJFF”) and AbbVie, Inc. (“AbbVie”), both of which may receive information related to your access of the PIP website. MJFF and AbbVie only will use and disclose information gathered through the PIP website in compliance with applicable laws and in accordance with this Privacy Policy and any restrictions you place on the use and disclosure of your information.

The Partners in Parkinson’s Site is intended for U.S. visitors only. By using the Partners in Parkinson’s Site, you consent to the collection, storage, and processing of your information in the United States and in any country to which we may transfer your information in the course of our business operations. The level of legal protection for personal information is not the same in all countries; however, we will follow the security measures described in this Privacy Policy in an effort to keep your information secure.

Types of Information We Collect Online

The types of personal information we may collect while you use this website are described in this section.

Information You Voluntarily Provide
We collect personal identifying information that you voluntarily provide on our website, such as to register for a PIP program for service. This includes information that identifies you or that could reasonably be used to identify you, such as your name, address, telephone number, and email address. When this information is combined with any information on health or medical status, we refer to the resulting information as “health-related information.” If you choose to register for a program or service, you may disclose health-related information as well as personal facts that could be used to identify you.

Information That May Be Collected Using Cookies and Other Tracking Technologies
Other types of information will be automatically collected by us through our website technology. For example, we may record the Internet Protocol (“IP”) address of your computer when you visit our site. We also collect nonidentifying information about your use of our website through technology such as cookies and Web beacons (pixel tags). A “cookie” is a unique numeric code that is transferred to your computer to track your interests and preferences and to recognize you as a return visitor. A “Web beacon” or “pixel tag” is a transparent graphic image placed on a Web site that enables the monitoring of things such as user activity and site traffic. These technologies help remember your preferences on our website. They also allow us to collect data on your activities and usage on our website as well as what links you used to find our website. By using our website, you agree that we may place cookies and other tracking technologies on your device and access them when you visit our website. To learn more about cookies and other tracking technologies, please visit http://www.allaboutcookies.org/.

How We Use Your Information

We may use this information for the following purposes.

Programs and Services
You do not have to register for a service or a program to use most of the information available on our website. If you choose to register, we may use the information you provide to provide you with your requested programs or services.

Program and Services Improvement
We may collect the information you disclose or thorough our tracking technologies to better understand and improve our products and services.

Service and Web Site Improvement
We may use the information about your use and activity on our website to monitor user traffic patterns and to try to analyze what our users prefer, so that we can design better services and a better website.

How We Share Your Information With Third Parties

We may share the information collected on our website for the following purposes.

Vendors and Suppliers
We may have relationships with various vendors and suppliers who help us operate our business. We will not authorize our vendors and suppliers to use your information for any purpose that is not related to our business operation.

Social Media Plug-ins
Our websites may use social media plug-ins (e.g., the Facebook “Like” button, “Share to Twitter” button) to enable you to easily share information with others. When you visit our website, the operator of the social plug-in can place a cookie on your computer that enables that operator to recognize individuals who have previously visited our site. If you are logged into a social media website (e.g., Facebook, Twitter) while browsing on our website, the social media plug-in allows that social media Web site to receive information that you have visited our Web site. The social media plug-in also allows the social media website to share information about your activities on our website with other users of their social media website.

Law Enforcement
In certain limited circumstances, we may be called upon to release your information in response to a court order, subpoena, search warrant, law, or regulation. We plan to cooperate in responding to such requests while taking appropriate measures to ensure that the requester understands the sensitive nature of the health-related personal information they may receive. We also reserve the right to cooperate with law enforcement authorities in investigating and prosecuting users who violate our rules or who engage in behavior that is illegal or harmful to others or others’ property.

Security
PIP employs several different security techniques to protect your personally identifiable information from unauthorized access of your information. The Web servers at MJFF and AbbVie are located in locked, secure environments, and computer systems are maintained in accordance with industry standards to secure information. You should be aware, however, that “perfect security” does not exist on the Internet, and third parties may unlawfully intercept or access transmissions or private communications.

PIP Registration and Communications
By registering with PIP, you are providing your consent to receive communications from PIP about the PIP program. Please contact PIP directly by info@partnersinparkinsons.org if at any time you wish to be removed from the PIP communications list. You may be asked certain questions to verify your identity as a condition for your removal from the PIP communications list.

Links to Other Web Sites
The PIP site includes links, some temporary and some permanent, to other websites. PIP and its sponsors, MJFF and AbbVie, are not responsible for the privacy and security practices of any third-party website or the nature of the content contained therein.

Children's Privacy
None of the content and information in the PIP website is targeted toward children under 13 years of age. We make every effort possible to ensure that we do not collect or maintain information on our website from those we know to be younger than 18 unless parental consent has been obtained in writing.

Do-Not-Track Signals and Similar Mechanisms
Some Web browsers may transmit “do-not-track” signals to Web sites with which the browser communicates. As of the Effective Date of this Privacy Policy, an industry standard has not yet been established on how to respond to these signals. Therefore, PIP does not currently respond to these signals.

Changes to This Policy
In the event that we decide to alter this privacy policy, the changes will be added directly to this statement so that you are informed of any such changes.
